PRP Facial

Facials are very common sought after treatments in the facial aesthetics arena. There is a different facial for every occasion. Do you have acne? We have an anti-acne facial for you. Do you have dry skin? We have a moisturizing facial for you. The list goes on and on. Without a doubt, there is a role for facials in aesthetics. However, at Sheen Vein and Cosmetics, we believe that the future of facial aesthetics resides in laser technology and in platelet-rich-plasma (PRP).

When you consider the underlying cause of aging at the skin level, it is due to the loss of volume to the skin. This volume loss stems from a gradual decrease in collagen and elastic tissue production overtime. Collagen and elastic tissue form the basis for the youthful structure of the skin. This is why the loss of collagen and elastic tissue over time not only decreases the volume and fullness of the skin, it also gives rise to the ever so gradual sagging of the skin as commonly seen with aging.

This is why facial aesthetics at Sheen Vein and Cosmetics is focused on rebuilding the collagen and elastic tissue stores naturally within the skin. This results in a gradual increase in skin volume, and a lifting of the skin as collagen and elastic tissue concentrations increase within the skin. To make this possible, we utilize laser technology and PRP to stimulate the cells within your skin to increase collagen and elastic tissue production. The use of dermal fillers and botox, the two most well known facial aesthetic treatments, will not do this.

PRP facials or as social media outlets like to refer to it as a “Vampire Facial”, is one of the more effective facials around. Its efficacy resides in the fact that its mechanism of action is the stimulation of the skin’s own cells to increase collagen and elastic tissue production. For those who are not familiar with what a PRP facial, at Sheen Vein and Cosmetics, it is a two-step process. After the face is cleaned and topical anesthetic has taken effect, the first step involves using a fractional laser to put minuscule holes into the epidermis and dermis of the skin. The second step entails the application of PRP into these holes using direct application to the skin or direct injection into problem areas or a combination of both. What this process does, is by damaging the skin surface with the laser, the skin will push itself to heal in these holes with fresh collagen and elastic tissue. The application of PRP only magnifies this regenerative process resulting in newer, fresher, and younger looking skin.

PRP facials are traditionally a more involved treatment and for this reason more expensive than the traditional facial one might receive at a spa. That being said, because you are actually increasing cellular production of collagen within the skin, the volumizing of the skin will be much longer lasting than what is normally seen with a more traditional facial which gets its volume through hyaluronic acid, the primary ingredient in most dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid works by absorbing water into the skin. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of this hyaluronic acid only lasts a few days in contrast to the PRP facial which can persist for months.

If you want to fight the aging process naturally, the PRP facial is the way to go. Call us today to learn more.
