We all know that age eventually wins, but that does not necessarily mean that we must give up the fight. STL Vein and Cosmetics can help you in this fight against aging.
What is SmoothEye®?
Smootheye is a proprietary new laser treatment designed to help people rid themselves of those undesired signs of aging in and around the eyes. Previously these periocular areas of the face were not readily treatable with laser or IPL due to the proximity to the eyes and for the potential for eye injury. That has now all changed with the introduction of the Fotona Smootheye laser treatment. The procedure involves using a laser to gently resurface the skin surrounding the eyes. The treatment ultimately softens up the appearance of the periocular wrinkles by tightening and lifting up the surrounding tissue. The result is a non-invasive, non-surgical eye lift.
How Does Smootheye work?
The Smootheye procedure involves the application of laser energy to the skin around the eyes. The heat generated by this laser promotes collagen and elastin production within the dermis of the periocular skin. Collagen and elastin are the key components within the dermis of the skin that decrease as we all age. As we lose collagen and elastin over time, our skin slowly will begin to lose its laxity and its youthful appearance. The heat energy from the laser helps to stimulate regeneration of this lost collagen and elastin. Thus, reversing the aging process.
What to Expect with the Treatment:
The Smootheye laser treatment normally requires 3 treatments spread 6 weeks apart for optimal results, but can vary from person to person. Since the laser heats up the dermis of the skin, you can expect some mild redness in the treated areas and possibly some mild swelling as well (much like a mild sunburn). The area around the eyes may feel dry and tight with some occasional skin flaking that can last for up to a week. You should treat the periocular area much like a mild sunburn. You will want to moisturize the skin and avoid excess sun and heat exposure for at least 48 hours following the treatment. Since the treatment is stimulating your body’s own collagen and elastin production, the results may take between 4-8 weeks for this to produce and show visible changes following each treatment. Some people may also elect to have maintenance treatments every 12-18 months to help sustain the effects of their eyelift.
